Sheringham and North Norfolk

So much to see, so much to do! Sheringham is the perfect base to explore the wonderful North Norfolk coastline and countryside, but our gorgeous town has enough to keep you busy without getting in the car. With restaurants, pubs, museums, beaches, gift shops, ice cream parlours, fishmongers, butchers, supermarkets, a golf course, swimming pool, train station and steam train, what's not to love?!

Number 9 has a book of what to do and see, but don't wait until you are there, get planning! A few top tips:

Sheringham Park - National trust and perfect for a dog walk, family fun and a coffee.

Sheringham Museum - A fully interactive museum for both adults and children, with a gorgeous shop.

Blakeney Quay - You can't come to Norfolk and not crab! Go and catch Gillie crabs at Blakeney and tie in a coffee or lunch at the Blakeney Hotel

North Norfolk Railways - Hop on the Steam train and take a trip to Holt - a gorgeous town full of independent shops and eateries.

Priory Maze and Gardens - If the children are driving you mad, put them in the maze and have a coffee whilst they find their way out! A brilliant way to spend a few hours and fantastic for children.

Sandringham - Tea with the Queen? She's a fan of Norfolk and has a house almost as gorgeous as Number 9 - why not pay her and her beautiful gardens a visit?

Sheringham Golf Club - A gorgeous course with views over the coastline and inland, open to members and visitors with an advance booking. If you are taking your clubs, give them a call.  01263 823 488

EAT EAT EAT

The Two Lifeboats - Fab pub right on the front but in the summer BOOK it gets busy. 01263 823144

The Lobster Pub - It doesn't get more convenient than this pub - right at the end of the street! Delicious moule and cracking pub garden. Again - it's a busy one so BOOK! 01263 822716

Marmalades Bistro - Our friends say this is an absolute find. We haven't eaten there but they are very fussy so if they like it....! 01263 822830

Fat Teds Street Food - YOU MUST GET FOOD FROM HERE! Queue for ages but oh my goodness its worth it. The haloumi wrap and dirty fries YUM.

Whelk Coppers - a breakfast must. What they cant do with an egg and bacon isn't worth knowing. You'll have to queue but it's worth it, sit outside and watch the waves crash

CRAB SANDWICHES!! You absolutely MUST go to Joyful Wests at the end of Station Road and just around the corner from Number 9. The BEST dressed crabs in Sheingham (and Cromer....) and they make crab and prawn sandwiches to go. Tubs of whelks, cockles, anything seafood and completely delish.

The Norfolk Pie Man - oh goodness they are good. Try their Cornish pasties and roast pork baps

but it's the pies that are the triumph de la cuisine Marlene.

Whats on?

There simply isn't enough room to all you all about the carnival, 1940's weekend, markets, steam train, Cromer festival, the Pier, but you'll find everything you need to know on these websites. Do give them a quick squiz before you come - we'd hate you to miss out!

Shopping

If you plan on self catering you're in luck, the high street is littered with the most amazing local, fresh produce.

Greengrocers - Dawn Fresh at the top of the high street is not only a visual delight it has some of the tastiest produce ever.

Fishmongers - well you are right next to the sea so it stands to reason the fishmongers are fresh and very well stocked!

PJ and Scotter and CA SeaFoods on Station Road both have the most beautiful array of fish - I couldn't pick a winner they are both amazing!

If you are more Turf than Surf go to M&D Butchers on Church Street - they supply lots of the local businesses and whilst you are choosing your chops the kids will love the train in the window.

J&D Papworth Butchers and Graziers have a cracking selection of meats on Station Road and judging by the queues they are pretty popular!

Sainsburys Local - on Station Road, its not big and there are always queues but it is local!

Tesco's - it's a Tescos. It's a big one on Cromer Road, you can walk from Number 9 if its only a small shop you are doing, Lots of parking and, well, its Tescos.

Morrisons and Lidl in Cromer - its a good Morrisons...it would be a good Lidl if it ever had any stock...!

Aunty Sams, Craft Bakery and The Bakehouse have more cream cakes and fancies than my waistline allows. The fresh rolls from Craft Bakery are delicious in a pack up filled with local ham or crab....
